Access to quality health care represents a large and growing
burden on the American people. Jeff Sessions believes that wholesale changes
must come to both public and private insurance sectors. We must make these
changes without moving toward government-run, socialized medicine that would
result in poorer quality and higher taxes for all.
Jeff is open to fundamental changes in the way that our
insurance industry is structured like allowing Americans to own their own
health insurance policies. He
supports efforts by small business owners to pool their resources to purchase
plans for their employees as well as search across state lines for the best
plans. Sessions supports fair
access to generic drugs in the market and re-importation of medicines from
Canada, so that consumers can benefit from their cost savings. He firmly believes that reckless
medical malpractice lawsuits are driving up costs and driving doctors out of
practice.
Sessions has consistently fought for Alabama’s fair share of
Medicare funding by increasing the federal reimbursement rate for rural
hospitals and ambulances. Through
the Ryan White CARE Act, he made the funding formula more equitable for
Alabama, resulting in an additional $5 million annually for critical HIV/AIDS
treatment in our state.
