Senator Sessions, a leader in the fight to stop illegal
immigration, is the Senate’s strongest advocate for securing our borders. Sessions was a Senate floor leader in
the effort to defeat the “amnesty” bill introduced in 2006 and has since worked
to block subsequent smaller amnesty bills – including the recent effort in
mid-May by the Democrat Leadership to attach ill-conceived “reforms” to the
Supplemental Appropriations bill.
Jeff agrees with the American people that the U.S. government
has an obligation to stop the steady flow of illegal immigration before
attempting to address legalization programs.
Sessions knows the key to ending illegal immigration is to
secure our border. He has authored
legislation to build 700 miles of fencing along our border, as well as deploy National Guards troops to supplement law
enforcement on the ground.
Jeff also believes that workplace enforcement is a critical
component to stopping illegal immigration, but any measure to improve workplace
enforcement should be crafted in a way that protects law abiding businesses. Small business owners should not be
charged with enforcing federal immigration law. It is incumbent on the federal government to provide
law-abiding business owners with the peace of mind that they are operating
legally by giving them a simple and accurate system to confirm that their
employees are eligible to work.
Jeff Sessions understands
that the American people are fed up with Congress’ inability to solve the
problem of illegal immigration. He
is committed to remaining vigilant and fighting for common sense measures that promote
a lawful immigration system.
