The Madison County Board of Education got nearly a million dollars worth of good news on Friday.
The district will get $995,499 from the U.S. Department of Education as part of its "Teaching American History Grant Program," according to an announcement from U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile.
"It's essential that our students move forward with a solid understanding of the people, events and principles that have shaped our country," Sessions said. "I applaud Madison County's efforts to focus on this important curriculum."
