U.S. Senator from Alabama Jeff Sessions is on a 10-day energy tour of his home state.
The tour brought the senator to West Alabama on Tuesday where he toured the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vance to see how the plant is incorporating fuel efficiency in its designs.
Sessions spoke to Mercedes employees about the nation’s energy policy and how diesel-fueled vehicles help improve fuel efficiency.
“This congress and government of the United States has got to get serious about taking steps that will result in ending that surge - some of which is to change away from liquid fuels and go to hybrid automobiles that could actually be cheaper to operate,” Sessions said.
