Jeff Sessions (R-Mobile) has two major advantages over his opponent, Vivian Figures (D-Mobile): 1) experience representing Alabama in Washington and 2) performance representing Alabama in Washington.

The incumbent is one of the most decorated and respected leaders on Capitol Hill, earning a number of rewards. His voice is one that is well received among his peers in Congress.

Sessions is an advocate for limited government, low taxes and strong national defense, as evidenced by his experience as senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Sessions is an advocate for properly funding national defense, something that is desperately needed as we have troops all over the globe. Sessions continues to work with Gov. Bob Riley in efforts to lure industry and jobs into Alabama.

Figures has become an instrumental political player in Alabama, serving in the State Senate. Her record in Montgomery is meritorious and she should be commended for her dedication and love for her home state. Figures also has American priorities in the right place, as she wants to work toward improving the nation’s struggling economy, working toward adequate health care for families and seeking a solution to the energy issues and the high prices we pay for them.

But Figures’ attempt to enter Washington’s gates are opposed by a man who is one of the better leaders this country has to offer. Washington doesn’t have enough people like Jeff Sessions to go around, so it’s imperative it keeps the one it has.

Sessions’ level of influence on decisions made in Washington will only grow with his growing reputation on Capitol Hill. Sessions helps give Alabama a good name in Washington. We see no reason to change this. Sessions has given his constituents in Alabama and the American people absolutely no reason to give his job to another person.

It’s been said before, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

We overwhelmingly endorse Sessions for another term in the U.S. Senate.
