MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama's U.S. senators and Gov. Bob Riley are upbeat over the Army Corps of Engineers' decision on the water flow from Lake Allatoona in Georgia.
The Corps says the suburban Atlanta water provided could be drawing too much water from the federal reservoir.
Senators Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions wrote the Corps' commanding general that they had been concerned the agency wasn't being even-handed and showed favoritism toward Georgia. But they said they were pleased with the Corps' action because the water flow at Allatoona was intolerable.
Riley thanked the senators and said he could not be more pleased with the results of the tri-state meeting Thursday in Washington.
