Sessions: Bill could transform farming (Montgomery Advertiser)

U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, and Rep. Terry Everett, R-Rehobeth, told Alabama farmers Monday that an agricultural irrigation project in this year's proposed Farm Bill could literally transform agriculture in Alabama. Sessions and Everett told agricultural experts at a meeting in the Alabama Farmers Federation conference room Monday that an initiative to use about $300 million over a period of five years to help Alabama farmers fund irrigation systems could vastly increase the amount of crops produced. "I believe that if the plan that has been put together by some of Alabama's best scientists is followed, the changes it makes in the state's agriculture could be of a historic nature," Sessions said.
